What is the fuss about? First, let me say that I
am responding to Pyrrhusgrl's post but not
targeting - merely using the words as a jumping
point to state my own, always so humble, opinions.

> Those of us who already have online galleries
> and pages know what kind of hassle they can be.

And those of us who have online galleries and
know that they can be pesky, apprecite the
efforts of people who take the time to come up
with their *OWN* gallery instead of slapping up a
premade one. Everyone using the same damn
template to create their galleries is so boring
it's eye watering. Do something UNIQUE that you
can be proud of! Are your cels not worth your
time and effort?

> Its a service, and a generous one at that.
> Besides, what do you have to lose?

Your individuality, first.

Your rights, second. It seems like Mr. Benevolent
is telling you how big to make your scans (both
thumbnails and full size ones) and telling you
what you can and can't do on your site (what's
wrong with selling cels off a personal site?).
More rules later? Try putting something up that
he doesn't like. I'm sure he'll have no problems
taking it down and slapping your little hand for
doing a no-no.

Your scans, third. Exactly how many people do you
think get to opt out of his database that he's
creating? Maybe some people can't wait to have
their cels counted and filed away with ratings on
them. I'd rather not send my scans to someone who
inteads to grade them like streetwalkers. As far
as protecting them goes, disabling the right
click is just irritating for other reasons. Oh?
You want to be able to right click? Too bad.

Your ability to get more cels, fourth. Who knows
whose favorite character will be rated as ultra-
rare according to the Book of Jason and suddenly
you find you can't get a single crummy cel since
a bunch of uneducated newbies took his word as
gospel and bid through the roof on auctions.
There will be the dealers watching too, so they
know who's hot and who's not so to adjust their
prices before they update.

> And, as for adding personality to pages about
> cels.....ehhh, sometimes that is a bad thing.

Well, for those that like that kind of stark,
hospital-room-sterilized type of living - then
knock yourselves out. No, really! Because I could
do with a LOT fewer people like that. People who
slap something into a premade template that they
couldn't have put togther themselves if they
tried and then pretend that they're being so
creative and original. People who want the fast
and cheap answer will always look. . . cheap.

I've stated my piece here. For the people who put
up galleries on this site. . . Well, I'm sorry
you felt the need to cheapen your collections
like that. Hopefully you'll change your minds.
For the newbies out there. . . Show enough balls
to do your own thing. You'll find doing your own
thing will serve you well in the long run. For
Jason. . . Get off your high horse. If I am the
only person with the courage to state it aloud, I
don't care. You come across as full of yourself
and arrogant, as if you're the only one out there
who can lead us to Utopia since we're a bunch of
stupid, misguided, untalented people who can't
either figure out the cel market or code for
ourselves. I might have a simple gallery since I
don't spend much time with html and I might only
know the price ranges for series I actively
collect. . . But the knowledge I have gained and
the gallery I have built were put together by
*ME*. . . WITHOUT help.

I'll say no more in this thread. Do what you all
will.

Sharply,
--Drac
