Recently, I placed a cel of mine on auction, including a link
to an enalarged image and pencil sketch.
I decided against marking the scan up with tags stating the
cel scan was done by me and belonged to my site, since I didn't
want to mar the aesthetic value in any way.
However, I have been reading some newsgroups recently where
the cel in question is being discussed. Among them are posts
where people are making it very clear they're simply taking the
scan image for their own use since they can't have the cel.
I don't mind people using my cel's image for purely personal
purposes, but inevitably, some will use it for websites, alter it, etc..
What really makes my unhappy is that none of these people could
have bothered to ask me first if they could use the image. I've
never said no in the past to anyone who requested. Its especially
upsetting since the scan took a good deal of time to for me to do.
Does anyone have any feedback they can offer me? Am I just getting
upset over nothing? I would like to know what collectors here think
before I jump on the newsgroup kicking and screaming which probably
won't get me anywhere, anyway. ^_^; |
