I agree completely about fanart cels.  They might be well
made, but again, for me a major part of the thrill is
owning an actual piece of the anime and being able to 
recognize your cel while watching.

To me, fanart cels are just small posters made using a 
different medium.  And fanart cels, even if hand-painted, 
are not necessarily "original" since an artist could use 
the same drawing for several cels.  I commend all the 
fanart artists on their skill, but sorry, I would never
spend my money on one.

I guess I am just trying to say that for me, I would rather
collect genga than repro-cels or fanart cels even if the
cels are more colorful.  I get a so much of my  satisfaction from owning something from the show.  There is
just something about it that is so special, no repro can 
replace that feeling.

For me, I guess when all studios go digital, I will just 
scour for the remnants of "old" cels.  I'll watch for 
collectors to tire of their cels and want money for them.
I don't think that I would "quit" collecting, but I would
not necessarily buy either gengas or repros just because
what I like really want is no longer available.

But that's just my opinion...
