That was too harsh and uncalled for. How dare you have the nerve
to stand up and say people can't use their vocabulary? Personally, I
think 'cutesy' writing such as "Had 2 B Said" shows a lack of respect
for the language, yourself, and the people you're speaking to. That type
of writing, too, has been wide-spread over the internet. Have I ever voiced
this opinion before? No. It's pointless and rude to point out to another that
you don't like their speech pattern and it hurts people's feelings. :(

"I know that people feel oh-so-cool displaying their token 6 words of Japanese,"

Just as you feel oh-so-cool trying to put down other people's knowledge of language?
Let's face it; it's the exact same thing. You claim to have so much knowledge of the
Japanese language and yet you use the same "6 token words." Your boast of being "fairly
fluent" could mean a great many things to many people. I don't remember ever
using kawaii, etc. on the board, but if I have or do in the future, what's it to you? If you
don't like to see Japanese words in messages, don't read them. It elates me to see words I
recognize, even the common ones. Every word is a step toward learning the language and anime can
do WONDERS for your vocabulary. Ever seen shoujo anime? "Kawaii" is used repeatedly - have you
ever asked the script writers to not use it so much because it bothers you? Or, if you look at
some Japanese websites, they'll have "Thank You" or something written in English - I'm sure you've
notified them that it's silly of them to write English words in an otherwise Japanese page, right?
The Japanese language has much more emotion and much less of the sarcasm than the English language.
If I were to say "that's cute," I could easily mean "that's the stupidest thing I've ever seen."
If I were to say "kawaii," there's no question as to what I mean. ^_^

Perhaps you feel less special knowing that others are becoming more interested in Japanese and needed to make yourself feel
smarter again? If you want to discuss the use of Japanese words in English messages on the net, bring it up in an academic
discussion or with like-minded friends! Posting an order, even one thinly veiled as a "request," on a public forum just opens
yourself up to a world of criticism. I don't believe you wrote the above message with the intent to not hurt anyone and I'm sure
you realize that this WAS the wrong place to bring it up. I would have replied to your email, but you're too much of a coward to
identify yourself. Opinions mean nothing unless there is a person behind them, maybe some day you'll realize that.
