Not totally unheard of, just very uncommon. I believe someone
posted toward the end of February of this year (one of the
Melissa's (?)) saying that someone had offered to buy all the
cels off a sale page just to get the one she had ON HOLD. Of
course, I don't think this was a major cel dealer. I think
there may have been a couple other posts like this.

I know there have been quite a few where people though they had
cels ON HOLD, but found out later they didn't as the seller had
already sold them to someone else (perhaps because the person
sent money sooner? I remember this problem didn't have to do
with offering more money per se) I this is a slightly different
situation though.

Just another reason to read the forum archives/use the search
function. Though, for these, I think you would have to just
remember or get lucky on your search words.

I got the feeling from the person's post that the seller knew
it wasn't a great thing to do and there was no miscommunication
Otherwise wouldn't the email have said something like "I'm sorry
the hold time expired" or "I didn't know you really wanted those"?
I feel very sorry for the anonymous originator of this thread. It
always feels awful to think you have a great cel, but then to find
out that you didn't. That's why I never consider a cel mine until
it is in my hands.
