Regarding the "A" cel description. Ya know, I
have seen galleries full of these suckers. And
yes, they can be extremely beautiful. I have to
respect the fact that they must have cost a
pretty penny, and weren't easy to find. But,
page after page....I find that it gets a little
boring after a while. Most of my favorite cels
are ones that capture an action. Movement
that you can see in one frame...to me that's a
breathtaking cel. Head and shoulders shots,
perfectly centered, eyes open, mouth closed, it
can look like a pose. I can only think of one
head and shoulders shot that has absolutely
floored me. (And of course, that would be my
one and only dream cel ^_^)
I can definitely see the need for a quality
measurement, helps to keep pricing
consistant at the very least. But personally, I
don't really use that method of estimating
value. I'll take a profile shot where you can see
the shape of the character's nose, mouth and
jaw, their hair blowing in the wind, deep
shadows, eyes closed, head up, mouth wide
open screaming violently over a head and
shoulders almost every time.
But...that's me. ; -)
