Hmmm. I've been around long enough to know that
collecting is nothing if not a matter of personal
opinion.
Just because a certain pose is considered more
desirable by some, and priced higher because of
it, doesn't make it's appeal a fact. It all
STARTED as a matter of opinion.
>this is how
>the cels are graded by experienced collectors
>and dealers in Japan
Yes, that's all well and good, but what's YOUR
favorite type of cel. I think it's possible to be
a "picky" collector with an amazing collection
and not have a single "A" cel in your posession.
Like I said earlier, having a grading system is
an understandable neccesity. It's a given that
such a standard would arise, as a basis of
comparison or a measuring stick. But that
certainly doesn't make it the one and only
standard.
In your earlier post you quoted Brian of Brian's
Animation gallery about what makes an "A" cel.
But his first sentence on that page explains that
this is not set in stone. He says:
>This is a very broad topic and books could be
written on the subject. Unfortunately for us
there are no price guides, and pricing is a very
subjective process.
Subjective means a matter of opinion, personal
opinion. So I agree with you when you say there
is a standard, but I couldn't disagree more when
you state that it is not a matter of personal
taste.
