The mail has been incredibly slow lately...

I've had packages returned to me where there was
only 1 attempt to deliver, global EXPRESS mail
take 2-4 WEEKS to arrive, priority packages
take 1-2 MONTHS to arrive (honestly, I mailed a
package in late October and it only arrived a
week before Christmas in DECEMBER... a priority
envelope I mailed to my father in early December
STILL has not arrived yet...), and various letter
delays. Some stuff is arriving on time... but
overall, I'd say the postal service is doing
terribly at this time (yes, yes, I know holiday
and Sept.11th delays... okay, it's been 4 months
since Sept. 11th, and didn't they EXPECT Christmas
this year? I mean, was it supposed to be
cancelled or something? I don't buy this whole
"we're trying so hard" line, especially when
their telephone customer "service" is almost
nonexistent).

If it was sent to you EMS, it could still be in
the system just dragging. I once sent a
global express package (cel) to France that took
2 MONTHS to arrive. (From experience, packages
to France and Germany seem to take longer than
they're "supposed" to.) If it was sent surface...
well, maybe it'll arrive by next Christmas... :P
(Sorry to be so cynical, I'm just really fed up
with the post office and their excuses... some of
the delays lately are unreasonable...)

Ask the person who sent it if it has a tracking
number. If it does, they can check the website
to trace it (which honestly won't tell a whole
lot if it hasn't arrived yet, since the USPS
website usually just gives the info on when it
left the USA, not where it is NOW). They can
also call the un-helpful telephone number and
receive the same info as the website gives from a
customer "service" employee who is almost always
clueless... and the person can also (if he/she
says this is a "very important" package) put out
an alert trace to find the package (which also
does no good, since I did this on a VERY important
global express mail envelope about a month ago,
and the letter FINALLY arrived, with no word from
the post office or their "alert trace")...

All in all, the only real thing you can do is
wait. Was the package insured?
