Interesting question... (Wed Mar 13 17:26:40 2002 )

Personally, I was always fascinated by
animation. I remember, when i was younger,
eyeing some of the cels in the Disney stores and
lamenting that I couldn't have one. (per the
price) FYI, I've now come to my senses and
despise Disney animation. ;-) Sorry, I'm just
not into it...

I collect cels today because I love being able to
own a piece of my favorite series or movie. Not
just anime, I do have a couple cels from American
animation, namely Ferngully and the Dilbert
animated series.

It's an amazing feeling to be able to throw a
tape in the VCR or a disc in my DVD player, pause
it on a specific frame, and say, "See that? I
*own* that." Honestly, sometimes it's a bit much
to get my brain around - realizing that what's on
the screen and what I'm holding in my hands is
the same item. And if I'm watching something and
happen to spot one of my cels that I hadn't
identified which episode or where in the movie it
came from? Wow, very cool feeling...

I guess what this rather long post (sorry!) boils
down to is that collecting cels allows me to own
a one-of-a-kind piece of *artwork* that was used
to *create* my favorite show/movie. It also
allows me to experience the beauty of a scene on
a more personal level.

And to that end, I'll share one of my newest
prizes...

Thanks for letting me share my viewpoint!
