I collect cels because the shows or characters 
mean something to me; I feel an affinity for them. 
Some characters remind me of people I know, and 
some events mirror events in my life- it makes me 
feel close to the characters. Some 
characters remind me of how good and heroic people 
can be when they try. Owning the artwork is a way 
to have a special piece of the show (or 
connection) that no one else has, which makes it 
feel special, much more so than a commercial 
product. As an artist, I also have a special 
appreciation of the care and talent that goes into 
the artwork that you can really only appreciate by 
seeing the artwork in person. Although the shows 
themselves of course look good, it never fails to 
amaze me how much more vivid and crisp the 
artwork looks in person.
