Okay, I just HAD to respond to this one. First, I think the
writer of ignorant comments went a bit overboard, but s/he
does have point.

As for economics, if people are willing to pay more, then
the demand is higher and unless the prices are raised
accordingly, there will be a shortage. This is a little
different since all cels are original, but To Heart cels are
very popular. That is why the cels are expensive.

There is nothing greedy about raising prices if people are
willing to pay that much. Doesn't everyone realize that is
how all cel prices are determined? Just because a series
may have been cheaper long ago, the current price for them
is based on the demand and availability. The only reason
Miayazaki cels cost so much is because EVERYONE wants them.
If nobody liked his stuff, his cels would be cheap. All
cels are priced according to popularity verse availability.
Where else do you think cel prices com from? The cel fairy?

However, I do NOT think that peope were whining and being
greedy. I think it was just wishful thinking like how I
wish I would win the lottery. I don't say it because I
hope that the person who won it would not have gotten it,
it's just wishful thinking. I think when people say if only
shops would do this... they are talking about their dreams,
not what they realistically expect to happen. I would love
it if one of the big cel shops announced an "everything
free in the store all week" sale. Does that make me
greedy? Does that mean I don't want dealers to be able to
feed their kids? Come back to reality. Among many other
things, this forum serves as both a place to freely vent
out the frustrations that non-cel collecting friends
wouldn't understand and express those cel dreams which
may also go unappreciated by others.

So please, can we try not to get so worked up about people
expressing their wishes? Let's not be too sensitive.

As usual it seems I agree with both sides and disagree with
both sides too. I think both sides have valid points, but
let's all try to remember this is a hobby and essentially,
unless you are masochistic of have OCD, you ar doing this
for ENJOYMENT, no toher reason (I hope). So please, if you
are a collector, try to remember this and enjoy it. And
instead of lamenting about dealers be grateful there are
people in the position to offer us cels at all. If people
keep giving them such a hard time, they might stop selling
to us altogether. Remember you always have the right to
not buy a cel from a specific dealer. If you don't like
their selling practices, stand up for what you beliebve and
don't buy from them. However, if you put that really nice
cel they posted above your anger, that is your own problem.

As for dealers, please try to understand that what is said
on this forum is usually said when emotions are at a
highpoint, and people don't mean to be as harsh as they
sound. Try to be patiejt with us and try to be honest and
consistant in your selling practices. Then maybe we can all
get along...

Till the next time,
ksg
