I think Stephen has just called up a good point that not
many people think of. . . "Dealers" do not get these cels
for free and they often don't get them for "very cheap"
either. Unless they buy the cels directly from the studio,
they themselves are dealing with some middleman somewhere.

It's as I've mentioned before. . . Animation cels have no
suggested retail price. They are never on a retail market.
Because of this, the prices are determined *only* by the
popularity of the character or series involved. What else
is anyone going to do? Charge a flat per cel rate? (*grin*)
I mean, when you really think about some alternative
pricing mechanisms, I think you'll realize how ridiculous
they would be. ^_^

I opt for "trying not to complain". I do my best not to
complain about or wish for better prices. Actually, I don't
like to talk about prices at all because, for me, that is
the boring and technical side of cel collecting. Some of the
characters I like are very popular (both here and in Japan)
and I pay a lot for them, but I see the other end of the
deal too - some characters I like are not popular or have
very limited popularity and I don't have to pay a lot for
them. It all works out in the end.

Many Sharp Smiles,
