Sounds like somebody's gotten burned recently. Hope it made
you feel better.

If AWS opened its doors to overseas collectors, one would
hope to see more supply hence lower prices. Perhaps some
dealers would get hurt by having to lower prices but that's
a factor of economics if this model holds.

If a cel is priced too high, then it will not sell. If
somebody buys it at that price, they can't keep doing that
forever nor can everybody keep up with the prices. If they
do, they've created a new level of pricing (until the next
supply/demand fluctuation in the curve).

Japanese dealers have an advantage over many (not all) foreign
dealers because they have more access and sources. They
usually have a higher supply so people buy from them. Prices
are set according to that demand.

I'm not sure if this makes you feel any better, but that's
the way economics systems work. Perhaps, unlike many
other collectibles (I'm not sure because I don't really
collect anything else like anime cels), this market is
particularly volatile (*shrug*)

Okay, off my "capitalist soapbox" for the day.

Wendy
