bitchy.  If I can be civil while I have PMS, I 
hope you can too.  My friend works for CENTRAL 
PARK MEDIA in TRANSLATIONS.  She is a CENTRAL 
PARK MEDIA TRANSLATOR.  She works with other 
CENTRAL PARK MEDIA TRANSLATORS.  She, unlike the 
other people who work with her on the hentai 
tapes is a NATIVE JAPANESE and ENGLISH speaker. 
I'm speaking from my experience; I'm not making 
presumptions because I don't know the whole 
industry.  I just know one person who translates 
a lot of anime, but does hentai because most of 
the other people who work with her are too 
protestant about it.  

Don't freak out because I'm not arguing with you, 
sheesh!  You asked for specific examples, and I 
decided manga, where I can compare page-for-page 
fan vs american company translation was viable 
since I don't have two tvs set up with two sets 
of anime, one fansubbed and one american company 
subbed running at the same time to compare.  
Anime translators also do manga translations, 
it's the same series, so your simple dismissal of 
my examples when you asked for some is completely 
irrational.

Basic equasion: Translations are getting better, 
but there are still plenty that are toned down, 
or just bad.  It doesn't matter what its in, 
because people who do manga, also do anime.  With 
more interest ($$ profit) in anime, better 
translators are able to be hired.  However, 
there's still plenty of stuff that's toned down, 
or altered to be more western or less 'upsetting'
