Mia-
That Japanese fluency contract isn't without good reason.
Sellers out there rarely speak English and don't like sending things overseas. It's for your own good that you don't go ruining your reputation on Yahoo Japan as an incompetant forigner.

There have been *TONS* of posts pertaining to this.
One time I browsed a few auctions and I found one user that
was obviously *not* Japanese. I looked at their feedback profile and they had more complaints of "could not communicate with bidder, canceling transactions" than posative feedbacks.

This may sound selfish, but it is a hard truth:
Every time some non-Japanese forigner bids and pisses off the sellers by not understanding their way of doing business and being unable to speak Japanese, they ruin it for current forigners participating in auctions and screw things over for any gaijin with a firm understanding of nihongo.

Translation software like Translingo! out there really stinks. If you think that will get you through an auction,
think again.
