Now I want to say here and now that I am NOT
arguing with you...because everyone has their own
view of this, and everyone feels differently
about repro cels. You have a very healthy
attitude towards them, and I am in no way
defaming that...now I'm just offering up my
opinion as kind of "other other side of the same
coin"...

For me, I love repro cels, they're very pretty,
fancels as well, they can be nice...but I just
don't get the same feeling. There's just
something altogether more special to me to know
that as I watch an anime that's my cel passing
across the screen...that I own the original image
that thousands of otaku may have seen. That's
just a kick-booty feeling.

There's also something cool in knowing this was
involved in the creation process of your favorite
anime...that somewhere in Japan, thousands of
miles away, someone sat there and planned this
cel to a T so that it would look nice on screen.
To create that image from scratch is sometimes
harder than creating a fancel from that image. As
often as someone may create a fancel of that
scene, there's just something different about
knowing it's from the person that orignally
created that cel...that someone had to pull an
image from their minds and create that, as
opposed to the fancel practice of replicating
scenes. I know original fancels are also created,
and a good bluk of the cels you create are
original, which I very much admire, it's a tough
thing to do. It's just a thought to keep in mind.

Anyway, yes, in the end, cels come down to their
aesthetic value. But sometimes, the feeling of
owning the original is just intensely cool.

But to all an fancel creators: More power to you.
That's a hard thing to do, and a hobby you have
to be dedicated to, to create beautiful images in
such a way. Keep creating, as creation is the
core of life...
