whether aion's post was intended to affect me or
not, it inevitably has because I know we share a
love of yohko cels. among all you veteran
collectors, I'd like to post a different view.
I'm a relatively new collector, one whose gallery
has increased in huge amounts over the past year.
please don't pelt me with cel paint for admitting
to that! ^_^
I recently graduated from college, and after
five years of mind-numbing work I earned my
electrical engineering degree; my reward was
landing a good job. prior to this, I squandered
forty bucks here and there to buy a few cels, but
could do nothing other than drool over the more
expensive and beautiful cels. now that I'm
employed full-time, I get to buy the cels I
previously couldn't have even put on my wish list
because they were so unattainable to a dirt poor
college student.
I found that aside from eyeing Keep Track like
a hawk, there are collectors without online
galleries who are willing to sell their cel gems,
and the best way to solicit those collectors is
through forums and the like. so as much as it
makes me look like a dumbass for posting, I post
my inquiries because sometimes, like recently, I
get an email from a stranger that makes my day.
so in case this was one of your curiosities,
this is how I've obtained a bunch of previously-
MIA yohko beauties lately, and for a reasonable
price. many thanks to the person who helped me
with this! another glut of yohko cels is coming
to me from a japan auction that was mis-listed
(yes, I am very bored at work some days).
so to everyone, please don't resent the new
collectors for this reason. many of us have been
fans of certain series for far longer than we've
been in the cel community. the fansubbing elitism
sort of irked me, but I'm going to assume I
misunderstood. but be assured, veteran cel
collections usually *look* like veteran
collections, meaning they're so much better in
quality from newbie galleries. anyway, I've met
some really amazing people in the cel community
this year, and the last thing I want to do is
piss them off for the wrong reasons. which I may
have just done with this post...?

back to work. gotta earn more bonus money.
/mina
