I agree... (Tue Jan 8 18:15:08 2002 )

I have to agree about the subbing/dubbing stuff.
Especially with sailor moon--I caught a dubbed
episode once, and I hated it. In fact, I made a
mad scramble for the tv when I couldn't find the
remote to turn it off as fast as possible because
I couldn't stand Serena's voice. Then I found
out that the dubbed series wasn't only dubbed,
but chopped up and re-edited, so it really wasn't
nearly as bad as it was in the US. Then I
flipped through a few manga, and while I'm not
about to go out and get them, I don't think it's
that bad.

I don't particularly like Cowboy Bebop, but the
background bad jazz music got to me before I
finished the first episode. Dragonball
apparently has a really intricate plot in the
manga, but as for the show, I've never watched
it.

I do like Card Captor, but I've only read the
translated manga that's come out so far and maybe
the first six or so episodes (subtitled) I don't
really think its terribly deep, but it's cute and
Kero makes me laugh (though not nearly as much as
in the manga), but even then, I'm not really
interested in any of the cels because I don't
really like the style of 'em.

I've actually become wary of 'deep' anime; I
hated akira, and after I watched it spent most of
the next two hours exchanging random 'what the
fuck was that all ABOUT?' with one of my friends,
and I didn't figure out the end of evangelion for
over three years, until I read through a guide
published in Japan that came out with the movies.

So I guess... yeah, to each their own, and if you
think all the crappy anime are selling for the
most amount of money, be glad, because the anime
you consider good are still going for cheap
(until it's butchered and dubbed on cartoon
network that is)
