The least somone could do before painting a copy and display it around is to ask the person who own the original. By politeness if nothing else! > Don't know the legality of copying cel images? That's totaly illegal without the authorization of the copyrights holders. As someone wrote it even if owning the original cel doesn't give you any right on the picture, it's against your own copyright if another person use a scan of the cel to make a copy.
